I tend to stick to my go-to meals, but I wanted to share with y’all a sample of what I eat in a day.
I’m usually a pretty early riser. I usually wake up around 7 am and eat breakfast an hour later after I’ve checked my blog and social medias and changed my clothes.
I will admit I’m a creature of habit. I eat almost the same thing every day for my meals. I’m especially bad at this for breakfast. I could easily eat a bowl of oatmeal every day for breakfast and not complain. I absolutely love oats!
I always try to mix up how I make my oats so today I put a bit of raisins in my oats. It would’ve been better if I had cinnamon, but I was out. It’s still super tasty.
This is the end result. I think it looks so lovely. I love this breakfast. I usually pair my oatmeal with an apple. Apples are one of my favorite fruits. Mangos, peaches, and apples are probably my top three. I recently made both apple butter and apple sauce. In my opinion, apples in any form are delicious.
I try to eat as many whole foods throughout the day as I can. This involves both grains and fruits and vegetables. I got my grains and fruit in my breakfast, so now I need to make sure I get in my veggies!
I love making this simple salad. It has lettuce, shredded carrot, shredded beet, and a little bit of pumpkin seeds for protein. As I’ve said before in this blog, protein is important when eating a vegan diet!
I also had a banana with my lunch to bulk it up with good carbs and extra minerals and vitamins. As you can tell from the picture, I love my bananas super ripe!
I love eating foods that are all different colors. I never want to eat a diet that’s mostly white or yellow as many Americans do. I don’t eat cheese, if I eat potatoes I pair them with veggies, I don’t eat chips, or processed breads. If I eat bread it’s usually homemade multigrain sourdough that my mom makes.
For dinner I had beans, veggies, and canned potatoes. I quite enjoyed this meal. I had frozen the beans previously. If you’ve never cooked a big batch of beans and frozen them I highly recommend it. It saves me prep time, because I don’t have to boil my dry beans every time I want to cook a dish or meal containing beans.
The vegetable mix I ate tonight was tomatoes, corn, and okra. I love all three of those vegetables and paired together they are just so delicious! I’m a huge fan of vegetables and I try to eat as much as possible. Eating more vegetables is guaranteed to improve your overall health.
Even if you don’t eat a vegan or vegetarian diet I recommend incorporating more vegetables into your diet. You will definitely feel the benefits! Your body needs nutrients and fruits and vegetables are packed with them. Find what you like and eat it. Whether it be broccoli, corn, tomatoes, or peas, anything is better than nothing.
It doesn’t even matter if it’s canned. Canned vegetables can still be good for you! They’re convenient and easy to prepare, so if you aren’t skilled in the kitchen or don’t have much time they are perfect.
I eat to keep myself in good health. I eat as much whole foods as possible. The less processed foods you eat the better. Those heavily processed foods often contain a lot of added sodium and sugar, which negatively impacts your health.
I’d be good if you at least tried a vegan or vegetarian diet, but if you don’t want to just make smart food choices. Try to avoid those chips or those cookies or those white breads. Shop the produce section more. Trust me your health and your palette will thank you.
